Most work with families remotely, so every state page has advocates you can reach. Pick your state below. Each state page lists who is based there, who works remotely, and the state's complaint process and evaluation deadline. We do not set directory prices and we do not screen advocates for outcomes.

Counts come from the directory itself. A state with nobody based in it still has virtual advocates who work with its schools, and the state page says which is which.

What these advocates do

An advocate reads your child's school file, prepares you for the meeting where the school writes the Individualized Education Program (IEP), sits with you in that meeting, and does the same for a Section 504 plan. Some also review the school's evaluation before you agree to it. Advocates who publish an hourly rate list $50 to $250 per hour. They are not attorneys. They cannot file lawsuits or represent you in court. Search is free and you contact advocates directly.
