Our mission

Help families protect their children's educational rights.

Our values

The Individuals with Disabilities Education Act and Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act give parents a formal role in eligibility, services, placement, and discipline. Independent special education advocates help families use those rights. Find Parent Advocates maintains a public directory of those professionals so parents can locate support when they need it.

  • Equity of access

    A child's rights should not depend on whether a parent can pay to find help. We point families to free resources and Parent Training and Information centers, and we keep directory search free. We also support independent practices so more advocates can serve families without referral fees or commission. Open comparison raises professional standards and helps keep costs within reach.

  • Independence

    The advocates in our directory are independent professionals, not employees of Find Parent Advocates. Families choose whom to hire. We do not steer cases for our own interest, and we do not alter family reviews to protect a listing.

  • Parental authority

    Parents hold consent and decision-making under IDEA. Advocates support that role; they do not replace it. We are not a party to the relationship between a family and the advocate they select, and we do not manage the case.

  • Respect for privacy

    Families share sensitive information when they seek help for a child. We do not sell inquiry details or treat them as a marketing asset. Our privacy policy explains how personal information is handled.

  • Professional integrity

    Safeguarding student rights is serious work. We treat special education advocacy as a profession that deserves visibility, clear standards, and sustainable practice so more families can obtain qualified support.

From rights in law to help in practice

Federal law promises students with disabilities an appropriate education and protection from discrimination in public schools. Those promises depend on parents who can participate in meetings, request evaluations, and challenge decisions that do not serve the child.

In practice, many families still locate advocates through informal networks. Others do not know where to begin when an IEP, 504 plan, evaluation, or discipline matter requires experienced support. Rights that exist only on paper do little for a student who needs services now.

Find Parent Advocates was created to narrow that gap. We maintain a national directory of independent special education advocates so families can find assistance, and so professionals who safeguard student and parent rights can be reached by the people who need them.
